Sandra Horn
Here are some samples of the activities I can offer in schools: in general, I try to bring the books to life for the children by using pictures, songs, objects (as inspirations for stories) and anecdotes about how my stories came to be written and turned into books. My first picture book was 'Tattybogle' - the story of a happy scarecrow. It has now been made into a musical for schools, by Ruth Kenward at Starshine Music!

Barefoot Books
We wanted bright, colourful books with wonderful art and captivating stories we could share as a family. We wanted rhyming rhymes, sing-along songs, and dance-along dances. We wanted tales that celebrated exotic places, magical creatures, and the wisdom of other traditions. Most of all, we wanted beautiful books that would capture the imagination, spark curiosity, inspire creativity, and instil a respect for the diversity of the planet and for the earth itself.

The Quicken Trust
The Quicken Trust is a Sussex-based charity which is transforming the lives of thousands of people in a village in Uganda. By 1999, Kabubbu had been ravaged by AIDS and malaria. Hundreds of children were orphaned. It was a place of destitution and despair. In just over 13 years, Quicken, helped by supporters including Starshine Music*, has built two schools, a health centre and a library. Dozens of community projects have been funded; hundreds of children have been sponsored through school. The first youngsters to be helped are now going to university or into vocational training - and achieving goals unimaginable a few years ago. * See the video on 'The Button Box' Enhanced CD.
